Okay I got the burner installed and ready to go, now I just have to get updated firmware. I found a download link for SB01 update, which seems like the newest, and it opens to a chinsy little app that wants me to look for a file to download. How to I find this file and get this thing updated???

Okay I figured it out, the files were hidden in the .exe so I had to use winRAR to extract the .bin file from it.

Okay so I've burned some more DVD's now with the new drive, I also left my old DVD300c still in the computer. And I still have the same problem! They seemed okay at first, then after a couple days, glitches would start, and freeze ups. The funny thing is, dvdinfopro scanned a DVD that is KNOWN to be bad and came back with no errors, no bad sectors, no suspect, absolutely 100% in every category. Is this program totally crap or what is going on here???
Just to give a little more info, I edit with Pinnacle Studio, compile with DVDlab, burn with ImgBurn and test with DVDinfopro. The same exact video/audio_ts folders burnt on my old DVD+RW's burnt on my dvd300c at 4x that have been gone over about 50 times run perfect! The media that I am currently using are Memorex 16x. Is it possibly that they can get by producing media that is this bad? I find it hard to believe? Please help! Thank you to everybody who has helped me out so far, I really appreciate the suggestions! -
You're using MEMOREX CRAP MEDIA which is why you're having glitches during playback. My suggestion is to use VERBATIM DVD media. If only then it still produces glitches and freezing problems then it's the software that you're using to convert your files to dvd.

Like budz says - media is your likely cause of grief. Do you have a Bestbuy close? If so go get some of these to test with:

If you have a choice - look for ones that state Made in Taiwan rather than the Made in India. Either type will be superior to what you're using but most users have more confidence in the MIT Verbatim's. I haven't personally used enough of the Made in India Verbatim's yet to form a strong opinion one way or the other but I know the MIT ones are about as good as it gets. Good luck. -
Okay I'll probably order some Verbatim DVD's tonight. I hope/doubt that it is not the video files, as I have burned this same information onto other discs and they were perfectly fine, and still are fine to this day. I guess I just find it tough to believe that any company can produce a product that poorly and get away with it...

TY and Verbatim media get good results with the largest number of DVDburners. Some DVD burners only get good results with Verbatim and TY. Unless you know your burner they are the safe bets.
Samsung burners are media tolerant and work well with most media that have write strategies in their firmware.
AT $20/hundred Verbatims tend to be old and slow. OfficeMax has 100 DVD spindles of Verbatim at $24.99 in their flyer this week.
