  1. I'm looking to control my desktop (in my house) from my laptop. My desktop is on a router. I've tried RealVNC and I can never seem to get it to work. Is there an easier, more simple program for this?

I use TightVNC. Very easy to set up and works well. http://www.tightvnc.com/ It's also freeware.

Another vote for RDP (or Remote Desktop Connection). RealVNC should also work if client\server are setup properly (not to difficult to do) but I prefer Remote Desktop Connection.

Desktop is in the house and the laptop is where? What kind of internet do you have? Static or dynamic IP?

  7. I use Log Me In. Great program. Easy to use.

There is a free version and a paid "pro" version as well.

    Check it out.

EDIT: I know others from here use it as it was here that it was recommended to me.
