So i need to know what media players i can use that take advantage of nvidia purevideo h264 GPU decoding.
I want to play 1080p h264/ac3 mkv files on my struggling athlon 64 3400

I'd use CoreAVC . It'll be less of a hassle and it'll work better. Seriously. You also need to install Haali media Splitter.
MediaPlayer Classic, Zoom Player are two players which allow you to dig into the video decoder settings, allowing you to set whatever parameters are supported by the codec. -
well the problem with that is i don think my cpu can handle it in the 1st place.. purevideo will use my videocards gpu.. Well i see you have a 2,4 P4 can you playback 1080p smoothly?
