can't play SVCD on my computer

Hi:
I converted AVI file into MPEG2 format and than burned SVCD by Nero. I can play it on my philips DVD player perfectly. But I can't play it on my thinkpad laptop which has an DVDROM and boundled software DVD player called mediametics DVD express. It tells me failed open file when I tried to open that MPG file on the disc.
I tried play that SVCD on my other desktop with CDROM and PowerDVD, winDVD. didn't work either, the error message is "unable to render the content"
But the interesting thing is that I can play that MPG file on my hard disc(before burned into CD). how could this happen??

Are you sure you have the mpeg 2 codec installed on both computers? if yes, I cannot help you anymore, cause I am newbie....
