Hello
I have got a weird one for you.
First the clients setup:
1 Desktop PC running XP
1 Laptop Running Vista
DSL Modem (NTL)
DSL Router
All ethernet wired.
The problem lies with the Laptop and email usage, what he wants to do is use the laptop to receive emails just as the desktop does, The desktop uses Outlook Express 6 for his emails, One POP3 Account and works perfectly.
The laptop has Windows Mail (vista) and MS Outlook 2007.
The first call was to come round and set the laptop up to receive emails from the same NTL account as the desktop but to leave the emails on the server.
At this time MS Outlook 2007 wasn't installed, so using Windows Mail i copy the details exact from the PC to the Laptop and it comes up with this error code Socket 10061 : 0x800cc0e port 25, so i un-install Norton which is a common fix and a usless program anyway which then It works, sends and receives emails perfectly.
I install AVG and that code again, i disable the email scannor and its working again. (its a known problem with AVG and WMail anyway).
i leave but get a call 2 days later its not working again, So i go and install MS Office 2007 for them as i know that the email scannor in AVG (which keeps enabling its self) works with Outlook 2007, but i get the error 0x80042109 & 0x80042108 , i un-install AVG and it still don't work, im out of time and leave to go back yesterday.
What i did yesterday:
Confirm that Norton and AVG isn't still on the computer and doing something it shouldn't
Disable the Windows Firewall
Strip MSCONFIG
Delete the email account and start again
Confirm the details im using are correct
Plug the Modem stright into the laptop (so bypassing the router and other network stuff)
Reset the modem
Everythings right and still not working, yet on the desktop its fine using the same details.
So i type in my 1&1 details on the laptop and it works perfectly.
So i check the host file and thats fine.
Triple check everything.
Delete account and redo again
Still nothing,
Its not that NTL (virgin media) are blocking port 25 for spam reasons as the Desktop is using port 25 and its working fine.
Any ideas?

did you delete the Outlook Profile or just the email account?
start/settings/contol panel/mail
show profiles
remove all of them
Start a new one
Sorry, I don't use Windows Mail on Vista
