Don't you have to use midi hardware to create midi files? As far as I know they aren't like a mp3 or wav or aac file. From my understanding they are digitally recorded from midi enabled instruments like a piano.

All I can suggest is doing a net search for mp3 to midi. You can go the other way from midi to mp3 by recording the sound playing on your computer. But I have never heard of going the other way - making synth files out of your audio files. That doesn't mean it can't be done I just don't think its very common if you can.

A side note - have you tried searching the net for the midi version of the file you are using? Or is this this something you created yourself?
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Hi...

In some flogs sites I could see some musics like Queen songs completely changed into MIDI format, incluing voices and instruments. And their size are VERY tiny: 730kb.

No, the music I wanna test is some from my private MP3 collections that I create using my own cd's colletion too. I just wanna see what can I do using MIDI formats and the programs that can handle that converetions. :P

I wanna find some applications that can turn my MP3 files into MIDI songs.

    Thanks for help.

MIDI files can be even much smaller, their sizes depend on the complexity of the
score they are intended to represent. And yes, some of those MIDIs may
have been created not with the help of a format converter, but by using
a dedicated MIDI editor and an actual (printed) score.

As for what you really are looking for:

    Hope it helps.

MIDI files is the electronic equivalent of note sheets, like a Word document is the electronic equiv. to a letter.
It's just instructions for electronic music instruments for what and how to play. WAV, MP3 and such is the actual sound. The two formats have not much in common (if anything at all).
Listening to a midi file (on your computer), is like having a text-2-speech application read your Word document. The difference is that electronic music has come much further than electronic speech (and the midi format much richer with info on how it should sound, than a Word document)

    Overdue warning:

There is no such thing as a good conversion from audio to MIDI. And not at all with a single mouse click. Some programs allow parametrisations to the experienced user, that may lead to usable results.

    You have been warned.
