Iv been using AVI2DVD to convert avi's for sometime now with a great deal of success. However, about a week or so ago I found that after loading the avi into the programme it would get as far as video encoding then my whole computer crashes (actually turns off). Iv used vdub and vdub mp3 to check for errors and freezes and the avi seems to be perfect. I tried reinstalling programmes, downloading up to date codecs, using both TMPGEnc and then QEnc to convert but the same thing happens. Has anyone got any idea what is going on its driving me mad!! For information im using DVD2SVCD 1.2.3 Build 1.

Does it just happen with that avi?

It could be a cpu overheating problem and the computer automatically shuts down.

    Turns off and restarts ?

If so, right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Advanced tab, and under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. In the System Failure section, untick Automatically Restart.

Now, if the system crashes in the same way again, you should hopefully get a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) instead, which may help you to track down the cause.

    Thanks for that guys.

No its not just one avi I have tried several, and the same thing happens. Also no it does not shutdown and restart it just shuts down, and turns off.

I will have a look and see if it is an overheating problem.
