    I happened to worked with my brother's Dell 3 year old laptop with 15" monitor. I could not change the display from 800x600. The desktop's icons and text are big. Any idea what caused this? I do not know if the video card is onboard. It just has many programs installed that it would be a hassle to use the restore disc. This weekend, I'll try to reinstall the video driver, if any and if I can, then run the spyware and anti-virus programs. Thanks.

    that usually happens from a bad video driver. uninstall any trace if the old one and re install.. should be fine.
