  2. dude you need to first create test Cds to check out whta surface and what cd your DVD toshiba will read ! Check out the DVD plyer compatibility disk list from this site. THe link is there on the front page itself.

Not all DVD players read CD-Rs. Some can read CD-RWs too. Many can read SVCDs also. Try using HP-CD R.

Use gold surface CDs (on the back). THere is 99% possibility that ur toshiba doesnt support CD-r disks. becoz CDs with the blue colour surface on the backside record layer should have maximum compatibility. as they sell the most.

if you write Cd-rws disks using any CD writer then do it and create a testing CD and pop it up into your toshiba player.
otherwise consult ur technician or the shop from which you bought. or contact the company or check its website.

OR buy a Sony or Philips DVD player. THey are known (but still check out)
to have maximum CD compatibility (even pirated CDs play well). This is because these are the two companies actively involved in setiing up VCD and DVD standards for the industry

    ibadk,
Give a little look in this web site at:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDname=toshiba+&Search=Search&list=0

Some Toshiba DVD Players do not play CD-R and/or CD-RW.
I don't know if your specifc model does.
    Bye
