hey how do you slow down a clip i read the manual but could not find anything. maybe im just blind!

 The search button in Vegas' HELP section is a powerful tool. Maybe you should do a search using "slow" or "slow down." With that said, here's the quick and easy answer you're looking for:
 
 With your video clip in the timeline,
 
 1. right-click on the clip,
 2. select "Insert/Remove Envelope,"
 3. then select "Velocity"
 
 This will insert a velocity envelope and a green "marker/line" will appear on your clip - which can be moved up or down depending on your speed preference.The more you know, the more there is to know...

	Another way is to simply hold either ctrl or shift (cant remember which) and drag the clip along the timeline which slows it down. 
- 
	I should have said drag the end point of the clip along the timeline, not the whole clip.
