I've been looking at deploying a light weight front end computer to stream my movies stored on my desktop. Most of them are .avi files encoded in divx 3/4/5, but mostly xvid. I was wondering if This ITX based motherboard from Intel could handle pulling .avi files across a network Could it handle my .avi's? h246? .iso? .mvk? .vob? Will the board be able to support DVD playback?

Ideally I'd like to in the future I will be making a file server and reripping my collection into .vob files, but for now I am going the .avi route.

I want a low power front end and the ITX board size looks like it's a good candidate for what I want to do, as long as it has enough power.

  2. That's a 1.33 GHz Celeron. It should be able to handle standard definition resolutions of most codecs -- except maybe h.264. Streaming via fast ethernet should be fine. How do you plan to get video out? VGA?

Video would be through vga, due to the DLP and the 22 inch displays both having vga. I just worried whether the thing would choke on itself with the integrated graphics.
