My system:
Win 2000 Ad Server (don't ask me why, it's a little overkill I know)
AMD Athlon 1,4 ghz
768 DDRAM
ATI AIW 32 DDR Graphic card
I get huge framedrop while trying to get uncompressed AVI or DivX or MPEG-2... and I know my system is pretty fast.
I Have noticed it's better if I capture to the System HD and not try to capture to another HD, so I only use the C: now for this...
The only thing that has worked well is capturing to 15000 kbps MPEG.. but I get framedrops after about 18 minutes...
I have 5400 rpm Hard Drives,, does this matter???
Really need help cause I shoudl be doing better with this...
I did excellent catpures on my PIII 600 and an old TNT 2 Ultra card so I had been hope this would be better... I must be doing somethign wrong right?

drive speed may have some effect but the first thing to do is make sure you have NO BACKGROUND PROGRAMS RUNNING, especially an antivirus or network. Also dropped frames can be caused by your source, I was capturing from an old vhs tape that I had a hard time getting the tracking right on. Even with the best setting I could get I dropped about 175 frames over the 2 hour capture which is still only about .01%, the capture turned out fine. If your dropped frames stay below 1% you will still be fine.
