I filmed a video scene using infrared camera and stored it in MJPEG format. how do i extract the image frames out from the "single" file. what kind of software is available for such extraction or conversion?

Most players can take snap shots of single frames. Virtualdub will allow you to save a video as an image sequence.

If you can't play it, an MJPEG codec is needed.
VLC is free and has internal MJPEG support and a good Snapshot function.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
