  1. Hi,

I use Tmpeg 2.50 for converting AVI (input from Sony Digital 8 camcorder and export after editing in Pinnacle studio 7) into mpeg2 (SVCD format). The picture is verÿ good, but the sound is awfull.

I tried also extrnal Toolame, but the result is the same:

Little ,,destorted,, like ,,a whistle,, ,,cracked,, sound mainly in higher freqvencies, not too much, but it´s not like original sound. I know, that this sound is compressed, but when I use native mpeg2 compression in Pinnacle Studio 7, sound is verry good (x but picture ...).

And also, does exsist any plugin for Pinnacle studio 7, for compression to mpeg2 without needing first converting to AVI ? (if I don´t want to use bad pinnacle codec in S¨tudio 7 ?

    Thanks
    Peter

If you font get good audio using lame or tmpgenc, then why dont you use the Pinnacle Studi audio. just demux the PScompressed file, sve the audio throw away the video. then do the opposite with the tmpgenc mpg. (save video instead.) then just mux them and hope tey fit.

about the encoding. take a look here:

i have not used it and the author have nopt tried it with PS7, so i dont know.

The problem is (probably the sampling frequency) I am guessing you are capturing at 48khz or 32khz as I had the same problem.Tmpgenc only likes 44.1 kHZ audio. I use Ulead media studio(Video studio is also ok) to convert the audio to 44.1khz, then you can feed the AVI into Tmpgenc and convert to Mpeg1/2 etc.

    Cheers

  4. Yes, it might be in bad sampling rate. I capture video from camcorder in 32 kHz, but export in DV AVI format from Studio 7 is possible only in 32 or 48 (not 44.1) ? I would have to use another codec, but what about quality ?
