  1. I need to play DVD format with windows media player 10. Is there soemthing minimal that would get me the DVD video playback AS WELL AS AC3 audio? Usually this involves two codecs - one for video and the other for audio such as AC filter right?

Any other choices available and which is the best?

Why do you need to play a dvd in WMP 10? VLC is free and doesn't need codec packs to work correctly.

FFDShow. Set it to decode mpeg-2 and AC3 and you should be set.

Be warned. WMP is a very poor DVD player. Don't expect it to correctly observe aspect ratios or handle menus particularly well.

Media Player Classic will also play DVDs without any extra codecs, and is a single executable. And it is a better player than WMP.
