Hi,

I found a thread on Doom9 regarding an FFMPEG option to perform lossless conversion from Divx3 to MPEG-4. It appears that someone had hacked an old 2004 version of FFMPEG to offer an commandline option called "-mstomp4". It seems to work quite well most of the time, but there were a few bugs in it as some Divx3 files don't convert properly. Shortly after putting the hacked version of FFMPEG up, the developer dropped out of site.

The thread can be found here:

Does anyone know if this functionality was actually added to later releases of FFMPEG? I don't see it listed in the FFMPEG options with that name. I'm hoping that it is there, but just called something different.

I have a large number of older music videos encoded with Divx3 that won't play on my D-Link DSM-320 w. Tversity without transcoding. I don't want to re-encode all of them to DivX or Xvid, due to the quality loss. This FFMPEG hack works well for most of the conversions that I've tried, but it has a few problems on a few. I'm hoping that, if it exists in the latest versions of FFMPEG, the issues with those few conversions have been fixed.
