What's the best Adobe preset to use for a Prem Pro project which will process 1080i high def footage?

Does a "60i" preset exist and what do you utilize successfully with nice results?

    I have a Canon XH-A1 unit.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I'm not exactly sure which preset to use. I'd check my personal file for you but I need to run to dinner. I included a link for you to my personal file on the Adobe Prem Pro.

All my documentation is thre for you to use.

Why do you keep starting new threads without answering clarification questions from that last thread you started? What is it you are trying to do?

The Canon XH-A1 is a fine camcorder but not for the clueless. 60i is a supported Premier Pro project setting but ould require conversion. HDV is 1440x1080i.

Be very clear what you are trying to do. I'd advise choosing a native 1440x1080i HDV project setting rather than 1920x1080i.

    Hi,

I'm trying to set up the optimal Canon XH-A1 preset for use with Adobe Premiere Pro (own CS2 and CS3) that will give me the least amount of trouble potentially and also offer the greatest degree of compatibility when editing with HDV material.

When I start a new project on Pro 2 or 3,I want to be able to select the best & most suitable "preset"(combination of settings) when launching the application!

Rightly or wrongly, when I called Canon tech support, they told me that it was preferable & their reccomendation was to shoot in the 60i mode over the 30F mode. So,that being said..what's the difference between the two and what are your thoughts in regards to that?

Are you saying that 60i should not be used with the A1 because its highest res is 1440x1080i?

Yes,I currently may be "clueless" to some extent but not forever as it just a matter of time when things are worked out and resolved.

Thanks for you help and input.

    Just trying to understand.

Premiere Pro CS3 has native HDV project presets. Optionally you can use Cineform Aspect HD for more resolution independence http://www.cineform.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=85 .

The camera is versatile but normal mode is HDV format 1440x1080i 29.97fps (aka 60i). CS3 is all set up for editing this format natively.

Optional modes 30F or 24F are used for special purposes. In those modes both fields are taken from the same frame clock where 60i gives double the motion increments taking each field at double frame rate 59.94. 60i is compatible with standard broadcast 1080i video.

The differences in camera performance for 60i, 30F and 24F are detailed in the camcorderinfo review.
