  1. I've been using the AIW Radeon for about a year now! I WOULD like to use it to capture via the "IN" from the SAT. Briefly, to get good quality, I've gone through 2 processor changes (PIII 733 - PIII 1GZ), innumerous driver changes, (Finally got MMC 7.5), and 1 Motherboard change (ASUS), and 1 OS change (W98 - XP)..

Now, under XP things have settled down, but here is the problem:
When I start up the capture, it looses a lot of frames in the first few seconds (i.e. 20%), after which it stops loosing (you see the percentage progressivly drop to < 1%). This would be fine, 'cause I could easily edit out the first few seconds, BUT Apart from using the File Player in MMC, I can't open the .mp2 with anything else for editing / recompression:

TMPGEnc and Virtual Dub complain of Packet Syncronisation Errors, Flask hangs, etc..

Looking at the Task Manager, the system peaks out at 100% CPU for about 3 secs, and then settles down at approx. 65%

I'm sure that the culprit is the first few secs of scrambled video. It's almost as if initially the disk writes are too fast for the OS, and subsequently things Pick Up.

My system has 128mb Ram, 2 HD (configured in DMA), Intel 815EP chipset and the Intel Application Accelerator installed (which DOES speed up a lot of things)

What I would love you to help me with is:
    1) What can I do to improve the capture frame drop
    2) what can I use to edit/convert/recompress these movies?

    Thanks!
