Recently DL'd winff .31 and can't get convert to work. Sample file is small 10M avi and have tried to convert to several formats. When I hit convert there is a DOS window that opens for a fraction of a second, don't see any text in the window. Can open a DOS window and move to \winff\ and type in ffmpg.exe and it appear that ffmpg is working.

Next DL'd winff .29 and installed. All looks OK and prgm including ffmpeg appears to work but all output file are of zero bytes.

Any idea's what is going wrong including my actions?

    TIA

doesn't winff log the ffmpeg output so you can see the error msg?
what is the source avi video and audio codec? identify with gspot, mediainfo, etc. That ffmpeg build may not support it.

    No log files found.

Just installed Gspot but not sure how to correctly use but appears video codec is given as MJPG and no codec needed for audio.

If codec was missing, how did the play function in winff show the video clip?

Don't understand why the older version of winff appears to function correctly, DOS window and looks like ffmpeg is doing it thing except for 0 byte output file size. Newer version of winff doesn't appear to be working at all during the convert operation.

Looking at ffmpg.exe in both directories of winff, versions .29 & .31, both have the same ffmpg.exe file (date/size)

    Hi,
Which preset are you trying to convert to? Is the avi file from a digital camera? Is it possible to upload a small clip to try, I am using version .31 in Windows and Linux with no difficulties, ffmpeg can be a little flaky with MJPEG sometimes.

avi is from a still camera shooting in movie mode.

Have tried mov, wmv, ntsc and possibly another one or two. None of them make a diff in operation. DOS screen is just a quick flash.

As I said before, all the clips I've tried work in ffplay.

Since last post I've tried using winff V.29 and with several output formats it works but not with the initial ntsc I tried.
