  1. I've just bought this player and found the way to make a video file playable by kiss dp-1600 from h264 mkvs that can be found on p2p networks:i transfer h264 on avi container with mkv2vfr from Matroska Pack and then mux the audio with avimux or virtualdub. But when i try to play the resulting file on Kiss standalone the video stutters quite a lot.Should it be something regarding b-frames?Should i rencode it from scratch with a DivxHD profile or Nero AVC Profile?Could please someone help? Thanks
This is info data from Gspot of a created file:
"Note: 1.40 KB unneeded bytes at end of file
    Multipart OpenDML AVI (3 parts)
(63407 frames in first part, 79201 frames follow)
    Interleave: 1 vid frame (40 ms), preload=512
    Audio frames: Split across interleaves"

Does any h264 in avi work? or have you just tried one?
What is the video frame size/resolution? Maybe it doesn't support hd resolutions that well.

  3. Resolution is 720p for all mkv(i.e.:"Reservoir Dogs":1280x544).I tried a couple. The player is been sold as h264 compatible.Somebody suggested has to be something to do with b-frames.Can i disable them without reencoding?Or should i reencode all video files in HDDivx profile format, for example? If that's the only way what app should i use to encode without bframes?

The advice about B frames is nonsense. You can't turn them off.

I found the website for Kiss Technologies and there is very little good information about this player. It says that it supports H.264/AVC, but that it is all it says. The player doesn't support HD Divx at all, for example. In fact, the only HD it claims to support is Windows Media Video. The REAL problem is likely one or more of the following:
    1) Your file is really X.264 encoded and it's just different enough from H.264 to be a problem.
    2) Your file does not conform to AVC specs.
    3) The 720p resolution is a problem for the player. If this is the real problem, you will have to re-encode the video and get the resolution down to DVD resolution (ie. 720x576).

You probably need to find a forum dedicated to Kiss Technology players and ask there. We get very few questions here about their players and few of our members have them.

According to this (- XviD 1080 decoding now supported) listed in the latest firmware notes, it would appear the unit does support HD Divx files. However, you will still need to know the actual specs that the unit supports to confirm your files are valid. I couldn't find the information on their website. You could try contacting tech support, LinkSys/Cisco is usually pretty helpful.
