    Hi

My mouse has a mind of it's own, whenever I click on a tab (I'm using Firefox) to close it or click forward/backward to pages, it seems to close/turn everything in two's instead of just the desired singular movement.

I've tried looking into the 'mouse' settings through the control panel, and have run anti-virus programs etc, but still I get the same annoying response. Pages overrun and tabs close against my wishes!

    Is this familiar?

Your mouse switch could be sticking. Also check your mouse controls for the double-click speed and set it to a lower value. But I would try a different mouse first.

Less likely, but still possible, your mouse driver may have gotten corrupted or you may have installed another device that is changing the settings. BTW, USB or PS2 mouse?

And I should have asked first, does it only do this with FireFox?

    Thanks for the advice, redwudz

It's a relatively new usb mouse (well, about 6mths) and I haven't yet tried using IE for this problem, tho it's always been very reliable.

When I say a 'mind of it's own' i don't mean literally, but damned annoying when it seems to click two tabs when I wanted just one closing- same for flicking pages to and fro.

I've just run adaware, AVG and spybot, and they found some viruses, so I'll try the mouse speed as you said.

    Cheers 8)
