Hello,
I recently purchased a Philips DVP5982/37 DVD player.
I have it connected it using Component Video Jacks (YPbPr) to my TV (Sony KV-32HS420)
I have turned on Progressive Scan.
The problem lies not in regular movies, but in animated movies (Lion King for example).
The picture shows to be a bit "jagged". Hard to describe, but i see the actual lines (or outlines of the characters).
Static images doesn't have a problem, but only animated images.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have had problems with a few movies on the 5982, but only because I had the HD set to 1080P, and the DVD wouldnt let me upconvert it, so it showed everything in blue. Once i switched back to 480i, it was back to normal, but I can't see how this could be your problem, because you arn't using an HD TV... But give it a try anyway.
