  1. I set up my old PC (athlon 900) as a dedicated capture system.
Why tape your favorite shows if you can burn them to VCD instead and
still be able to watch them 10 years from now :)
The capture guide on this site was an excellent help and I get great video quality with my caps.
    However the sound...uh...stinks :(
It's like when you have a cheap small set of speakers and turn the volume up to far, every time someone speaks there is a vibration in the sound (very annoying)
    I'm sorry I can't explain it any better :(
I hope someone hear can a) help me avoid the problem or b) help me
fix the problem through after-capture sound editing.

    thanks in advance

  3. Ok, I managed to fix my problem.
Turns out it helps to set recording to line in :)
Open the volume control (speaker icon in systray or start/programs/accessories/entertainment/volume control, open the properties window, select recording, make sure line in is checked
for display, click ok and make sure the box next to 'select' in the
    Line In column is selected.
Figures this would be some damn windows control :)
Beats me how i was able to get any audio at all without that selected:P

and that fixed your problem? hmm. i already had that selected. my problem is intermitten. This morning the vibration sound was bad but i kept fliping the dv bridge selector and i read somewhere that this is an issue with the dv bridge. it gets out of whack whenever you fastforward and tape(vhs) or rewind and then you have to unplug it , wait a minute and then restart it. Something about clearing the buffer but i am not sure. This afternoon it worked great til evening. One of those strange issues i cant get a handle on. Also wireless components vibrate internally and cause sound issues. I recently bought a wireless access point for my laptop. Oh well, if someone out there can point out what might be wrong it would be great. until then signing off.
