I know this has probably been beaten to death here, but I am out of ideas myself.

I have a collection of VHS Tapes (Dr. Who) and want to copy them to DVD.
I do believe that most of these will NOT be availiable on DVD. I am not trying
to be a pirate or anything like that.

I have a Samsung SV5000w world wide VHS VCR which is my "Source" and a Panasonic DMREZ37V
which is my "Destination". Of course I am running into MACROVISION issues (AUGH). I have tried several
"Stabalizers" including the SIMA GO-DVD CT-200 and "The Clarifier" from the now defunct Facet Video. All give
me the same results: White horizontal lines through picture and a so-so overall picture. While these devices DO eliminate the macrovision no copy signal, i am left with almost unwatchable results. I even tried to use a different VCR and got the same results.

I am asking for help since I dont want to keep spending $$$ on clarifiers only to find they dont work with my devices.
I have just purchased the "Grex" device which the company claims will work with my setup, but "The Clarifier" was supposed to work as well and it didnt.

I also even tried to hook up a vcr to my PC and capture it there. This gave me the same "No Record" message and the clarifiers gave me the same white lines and so-so picture.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. What capture device did you use with your PC? Typically, capture devices for the PC do support MV protection. They are not legally required to do so as are dvd recorders.

  3. It seems that I had seen this problem, posted prior

    As I said
In my personal opinion I have not seen a So called --- Stabilizer, Clarifier --- that is worth its salt or price.

If you wish to use these units and run into MV on the tapes, I would invest in a decent
    TBC ---(Time Base Corrector)
