Short version- does anyone know of a region hack for the Insignia NS-PDVD10 portable DVD player? The IS-PDVD10 hack listed here at Videohelp doesn't work on my new machine(the NS-PDVD10 replaced the IS-PDVD10). Neither do other hacks listed here for other Insignia & Mintek portables I've tried so far.

    Long version:
I just got a nice new Insignia NS-PDVD10 portable DVD player from Ebay at a real bargain price. 10.2" screen, 3 headphone jacks, all the facory goodies, nice big picture & works great with factory Region 1 discs- all I've tried so far.

One of the reasons I bought it was because a review on the Best Buy site gave a Region-Free hack! Well, turns out that hack came straight from the Hack List here at Videohelp(good!), *But* it's for the previous model, the *I*S PDVD10(not so good! :P ). I tried it- the IS PDVD10 hack doesn't work on my player. I tried more hacks listed for other Insignia portable DVD players on the Hack List here- also didn't work on my machine. I've learned that some(maybe all?) of the Insignia portable DVD players are made by Mintek- so I looked at hacks from the Mintek hack list. No go for me. So far haven't found a hack that works on my player.

I have two home video DVD players- both Philips brand, both are hacked with information I found here- big thanks to VideoHelp. In fact, I checked the hack list here & found the hack *before* I bought each home player. Guess I should have checked here first on the new Insignia portable too- but too late for that now, it's all A-OK & as-new & I'm honor bound to keep it. Besides, I never had a portable player before & really like it!

Can anyone help with a region hack for the (current model) Insignia NS PDVD10? Nice as my new player is, it'd be even better if it was region free. I have some Region 2 discs I'd really like to watch on my wonderful new toy! All assistance appreciated.

    Hi,

I posted the following as new Region Code Hack; however it is still not showing up... wonder if I miss anything.

Follow the steps posted by LaoTseu91 on February 27 2006 for Shinco SDP 1850:

Turn on the Portable DVD Player with no disc on it.
    Open the Disc lid
    1) On the remote control type "SETUP" button
    2) Select "PREFERENCES" in the menu with
    3) Validate it with the button "OK"
    4) Enter the code : "224455"
    5) With the direction keys type:
    a) Left key : < (Nothing happens)
    b) Down key : v (a menu appears on the screen
    with all region)
    6) Select the Region : 0 (all) with the direction keys
    7) Validate it with the button "OK"
    8) Finish the process by typing the "SETUP" button.

Try posting this information under a review of the player. This is the 2nd report we've had today that the moderators are not updating the DVD Players list with region hack information, so the best way to let people know is to post it in a review.

Pool7- *Thank You*! Muchas gracias, amigo! I spotted the hack here just last night- just now tried & verified the hack you posted, & it works! Hooray! now I can play my first 4 seasons(series) of my favorite BBC comedy, 'Allo 'Allo. 8) I hadn't checked back here at VideoHelp & the hack list for a few months now. And to think- you posted the hack here on my birthday. How'd you know? I should have looked 1 month & 19 days earlier, huh? I really appreciate it, P7- nicest birthday present I got this year, it was *my* fault I got it so late.

    Thanks again. Viva Argentina!

  5. I am a little confused: I have a portable Insignia NS-P10DVD. And the posted hack does not work for this? Is this indeed a different model of was unclestu's model# just a typo?

I see no provisions for punching in numbers under the "preferences" menu. That's where I fail. Any help? Thanks!
