I was just about to post a msg about the operation of this program, so that's what I'll do. I want to split an avi file nearly in half so that I can get each part onto a DVD. The total length is about 8.3G. I just deleted (Delete in Edit menu after setting the begin/end markers) the second part (1/2 roughly, 4.2G) and am now saving ghe file as an avi file. It's slow. In fact, it's odd. It seems to be producing a file greatly in excess of the 4.2. What's going on?

Somehow I don't think Virtualdub is suitable for simple slicing of avi. I finally accomplished what I needed on this matter by just slicing and dicing an avi file with Vegas, and then rendering them to avi. A little clumsy, but it works.

...and then rendering them to avi.

Thanks for the link. Next time out on avi splits, I'll see how this works.
