I used AutoGK to shrink a dvd to cd size. The first time, I ended up with ~0.5 second delay between the mouth movement and the speech. I did another one and got a whopping 32 second delay.

What the heck is going on?????

What program or method did you use to rip the DVD to your hard drive? The problem may be with the video you are feeding to AutoGK, not the program itself.

  3. Yeah, did you decrypt using DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode, rather than File Mode? If not, try that. And if it's a newer DVD with extra copy protection, then you'd best use RipIt4Me to decrypt it, Movie Only.

And if decrypting properly doesn't help, and if it's a fixed asynch (off by the same amount all the way through), then fix it by adjusting the delay in VDubMod.

I use DVD-Cloner IV to rip to my hd (I stupidly paid for a program before I found the freeware!). I've ripped quite a few and burned copies with Nero Burn and ImgBurn - all of the copies have worked perfectly, even the dvd9 one-to-ones.

Could the problem have anything to do with the original dvd itself??? The first one had everything - movie, menu, extras, previews, etc. all in one vob set, so I used VobBlanker to pick out the movie then the extra feature I wanted to shrink. That one was off only slightly. The second dvd had all the menu items stuck on the front of the vob set, so they flashed by quickly in the shrink. This is the one that was off by 30 seconds!

No, as it plays with the audio in synch doesn't it? The problem is most likely with your decrypting procedure for AutoGK. The fact that it may work OK when backing them up to DVD (if I understood your first paragraph correctly) doesn't have much to do with how they'll turn out when converting to AVI.
