I have a avi with mpeg video and mp3 audio. I want to drop the video and take only the MP3 audio to a regular MP3 file without recompressing.
can i somehow de-/remux this, or is there a audio passthrough hidden somewhere?

Load the AVI in VirtualDubMod. Go to the stream list, select the mp3 stream, hit Demux. Done.
<edit>Nevermind - realized this was ffmpegx forum. Sorry.</edit>

The Movie audio to mp3 preset may re-encode (not sure), so it's probably safer to demux the AVI with D-Vision.
D-Vision > Tools > Re-encoding avi and mpg > Copy/Extract > [Drop an AVI] > Extraction of an audio track > Direct stream > Launch task

Fission by Rogue Amoeba ($32) comes to mind. They claim lossless.
