  1. If I right-click on the Desktop a Menu opens with several options . One of those is "New Text Document", which I use frequently to create notes. Since a few days ago I no longer see "New Text Document" listed in the context menu, forcing me to create the text document with Notepad using the START button, etc. Any way to restore and fix the context menu to show this link? Thanks.

I found the list that creates that context menu in the registry, but I don't know how to repair it. Hopefully a registry expert will dive in.

Are you referring to the New > Text Document selection, or an actual entry on the main context menu called 'New Text Document'?

If it's the former, you can try using TweakUI. Create a blank text document (just open one and save it). Open TweakUI, go to the Templates section, and drag the blank text document you just created into the sub-window, naming it Text Document. That should (hopefully ) restore the Text Document to the New section.

If it was a 'New Text Document' option, it was probably added by a program you installed. You'd have to either reinstall that specific program, or see if it has an option to re-add it to the context menu.

  4. Thanks everyone. Haibara, yes I'm referring to the New > Text Document selection. Someone in another forum suggested this which finally solved the issue:
