    Hi,

I'm using the excellent subtitle conversion program Srt2Sup but have a new line within a subtitle problem. That is to say when one subtitle displays what two people have said the dialog is split onto 2 lines to show what each person has said, and by convention to show this has happened a '-' starts each line.

Here's what the subtitle from the srt file looks like:

    5
    00:02:52,760 --> 00:02:55,479
    - you want something?
    - A cup of coffee.

But when loaded into Srt2Sup the dialog is always on the same line, like this:

    - you want something?- A cup of coffee.

Except after the '?' where there should be a newline, I get those solid rectangles that indicate a 'not displayable char', and the subtitle's bitmap image remains on one line - click the thumnail link below to see a screen capture of what I mean:

I've tried converting the original text to UNIX text format, but had the same results.

I have checked and each newline in the SRT file is a CRLF pair (in hex 0D0A).

On Srt2Sup's home page the author says: 'To edit text or select a different bitmap double click on the subtitle text/filename in the list. CRLF can be added by using CTRL and Enter.'

When I double-click to edit the problem subtitles within Srt2Sup, firstly in the textbox the subtitle is already split onto 2 lines as it should be, and using CTRL ENTER to add a CRLF makes no difference, I do not get the subtitle split onto 2 lines in the bitmap image.

Anyone any idea how to resolve this?

    Many thanks and regards.

Forget this - problem resolved by Global Option 'Auto Wrap' - oops.

  3. Hi-

You might try SubtitleCreator to make the SUP file for you.

First File->Open Text Subtitles (your SRT file). Then File->Save SUP. Then Tools->Manipulate SUP or VobSub followed by Open Sub, where you can open the new SUP file and check all the lines of dialog to see if it did it correctly.

Edit: I see you got the problem solved. So never mind my post.
