  1. I've been using AutoGK for a while now to convert my DVDs to avi's & I want to try converting HD movies to xvids.
I open the HD mpeg or .ts file in AutoGK, & set everything the same as I do for normal DVDs, except I set the width to 1920.
The result looks really good, but I don't know if I'm doing the correct thing.
Should I be converting to a different format, like mkv? Is it as easy as AutoGK?

I would convert to h264 video instead of xvid. You can use MEGUI, not as simple as autogk though but just follow a tutorial.
