Hi, i'm new to these kind of stuff and there's this new show coming up on October that i want to record to my laptop, but i just don't know how. Can someone help me please? If you don't mind, please explain a little more clearly like step by step what i should do in order to record the show with high quality. Thank you

One additional question if you don't mind. If i want to watch TV shows online on my laptop, what would i need? If the thing i will need to watch the shows on my laptop is a tuner card, then what is the best tuner card in your opinion?

Depends ... what is the laptop brand and model ... or fill in some specs so we know how fast it might be ... then you might get an answer that might be close .

??? = online tv shows on laptop

Well , if they are "online" ... then internet connection would be required .
If you meant tv on laptop , a video capture device would cover both "watch" and "record" .
You would be looking more at the usb belkin video grabber ... but when details of laptop are known , you'll get options .

You might want to cover laptop to tv ... they don't usually supply the cable for that with laptops .

    That be vista .

Tv out from laptop to tv might required something like http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PC-Laptop-To-TV-Digital-Video-Converter-VGA-To-AV-H2_W0QQitemZ2...QQcmdZViewItem

Thats if it was implemented , possibly via the vga connector ... you'd need to check that out .

Usb2 seems to be the only input method , so belkin or avermedia are the two companies I'd look into for usb2 capture devices ... I have never had an issue with these companies ... apart from avermedia devices being a tad hard to get a hold of ... and the capture quality is brilliant .

Note : If you have not done so already , run the dell backup tools to generate system restore discs ... make 2 of , in case one craps out .
