Hello guys,
I currently have a project that requires me to capture a client's DVD (vob) on my local hard drive (AVI). I then have to import that to Premiere so I can edit it, and then export.
My question is, what is the best and fastest program I can use (I have 20DVDs to capture) so I can do this project? Currently I've installed Auto Gordian Knot and running the conversion to AVI as I type, but I've checked the settings and I only have two options (xVID, and DIVX). I remember importing a DIVX before in Premiere, that didn't work.. I also checked the program called "FairUse Wizard" but like Auto Gordian Knot, it gives me high-quality xvid or divx.
So, I need a suggestion for a program that converts DVD to AVI fairly fast, but the exported AVI must be editable in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.
Thank you very much guys in advance.

DVD is MPeg2. Premiere will edit MPeg2.
You don't want to convert to MPeg4 (divx or xvid).
Depending on your version of Premiere, you may need to demux the VOB to MPeg2 video and audio.
Next decide on a project format for Premiere. You can use DV or uncompressed AVI. Then open your project and import your MPeg files.
You will need to render the timeline to get a smooth preview. -
edDV,
Thank you so much for the reply, I really appreciate it.
I guess my next question is... What is the program to demux the VOB to MPEG2? Is the video file format going to be .M2V after demuxing? I did try to import the VOB to Premiere Pro 1.5, that didn't work as expected.
Thank you again.
