Anyone know of an avi splitter that will allow me to manually split multiple parts of one avi and automatically combine those split parts, allowing me to rename that new creation of course? All of the videos I split will be avi's.

    Hopefully, I explained myself correctly.

Here are a few avi splitters I haven't had the time to look at but I'm unaware of any other programs:

    speed video splitter
    allok video splitter
    ultra video splitter
    okoker video splitter

A splitter that I did try and didn't like at all was easy video splitter. For some reason the program would put me back to the first cutting point when I tried to search for the last cutting point.

The problem with most avi splitters is that joining the files causes audio sync issues. If the parts do not need to be playable as separate parts, use a file splitter like HJSplit instead.

Otherwise you could try avidemux or virtualdub as well.

I don't need them to be playable as separate parts so I'll give HJSplit a try.

I use VirtualDub or VDMod for that. Just cut out the parts you don't want, save what's left over with 'Direct stream copy'. That's just about automatic. If you cut by using the key frames, you shouldn't have any sync problems.

    Wow, very cool.

I've downloaded VirtualDub and found where I need to change to "direct stream copy".

Quick question, is there a way to set the program to open with "direct stream copy" selected, or do I need to manually change the video preference each time I use the program?

    Thank you for the recommendation.

In VDubMod, go to "Options" -> "Preferences...". Right near the top is the setting for "Video Mode" where you can set the default.

Since VDubMod is based on VirtualDub, the setting should be in a similar location. Hopefully

Hm, neither of the two options seem to work in VD.

Um, ok but the question was can I set VD up to open and have direct stream copy auto set.

So, I don't see how your 2 post fit in?
