I'd think the applications metioned comes with manuals and/or help files that describe how to accomplish what you want?

If you want scene based chapters done the way professional DVDs are done, then start by working out which frame you want your chapters to start on. You put these in a text file, in order. You then encode the video using an encoder that allows you to set where you want i-frames. CCE can do this, for example. You can even load your text file in so it knows what you want. Finally, you use the same text file in your authoring tool to tell it where to set the chapter marks.

None of this is automated in the real world.

Most authoring tools have an auto chapter function. They are come in one of three types.

    1. A chapter every nnn minutes. You set nnn

    2. nnn chapters. Again, you set nnn

    3. Scene detection. This is simplistic, and basically looks for obvious scene changes.

However none of these know anything about the video or can choose realistic chapter points. And if you haven't encoded your video correctly to begin with, can't place the markers where they are needed anyway.

Finally, I have used both Architect and DLP, and the chapter setting in each of them is very straight forward and well covered in the manuals. The reason they manuals don't describe what you are after is because it simply doesn't exist.
