merge audio by soxmix

I am trying to put few audio files on a video file by command line tools....

for instance ...

insert audio1.mp3 second 0
insert audio2.mp3 second 12
insert audio3.mp3 second 45

and the audio files overlap each other....

I was told to use Sox to merge the audio files and then mux it with the video. i tried to merge the audio files by Sox . it dose merge them ..but it dose not give me any option to insert the audio at specific second...what command should i use?

soxmix audio1.wav audio2.wav audio3.wav audio_all.wav

I mux the audio_all.wav with mencoder...that has no problem
