  1. Hello All. I'm looking for a DVD player, on the cheap side, that has 5.1 analog audio outputs. I want to hook it up to a Creative Surround system that has 6 analog ins built into the subwoofer. The DVD player should be able to play DVD-R discs. Any decent cheap players out there?
    Many Thanks,

To get this, you will most likely have to buy a DVD player that supports DVD Audio and/or SACD as both of those formats support 5.1 analog out. In the USA (don't know where you live from your profile), these players are becoming harder to find and aren't cheap. Oppo makes probably the cheapest ones you can get now and they are over $160. Pioneer has abandoned the DVD/DVD-Audio/SACD players in the USA, but you might be able to find some older models for sale cheap through Ebay or Amazon.com's resellers market. The only other company I know of in the USA that makes such combo players is Denon and they all cost a lot of money.

If you live outside of the USA and Canada, you may find such players easier to locate and for less cost too. In the recent past Philips was selling DVD/SACD combo players in Europe fairly cheaply, but I don't know if that's still true.

Hey Jman - thanks for the reply. Yeah - I have an Oppo 971 with 6 outs, but I was looking for something cheaper - something that students could wreck and I wouldn't be too PO'd. I found this...

...which seems to be out of stock, but they have refurbs that may be perfect for my needs. It even has mic inputs for karaoke! Ever hear of these?
    Thanks Again,
