I encoded an XVCD using TMPGenc at a bit rate of 2.5Kbits and it seems to work well, except for the Audio. It had some crackling and popping in it. Anyway, the question is, I understand that and XVCD can have a higher resolution. Is there a limit, and/or has any one experimented with
a resolution higher then 325x240?

An xvcd simply means that you are encoding outside of the vcd standards. There are no specifications whatsoever for the xvcd format except, I suppose, that it uses mpeg1. The limits are only imposed by your dvd player. Check your audio on your pc. If the crackling is not present that your total bitrate is too high. Try lowering it until you get clear audio. I suggest you buy some cdrw's.
Many people encode xvcds with resolutions as high as 720x480(576 for pal). Again I'd try encoding several test disks to see which play on your player and which look best to you. -
Out of curiousity, did you happen to set the "Source Range" filter in TMPGEnc? When I use this filter, I often get pops in my audio that are not on the source.
I have gotten in the habit of encoding the entire clip and then using the Merge & Cut tool to clip it.- bewley
