    Hi guys

I'm going to be replacing my Sky Digi Box and Bush DVD/VHS Combi Recorder. Could you please give me some advice on what to buy?

My budget is £600-possibly rising to £800 tops, (including all connections, etc). One of my main aims is to be able to record Sky TV to disc..at the highest possible quality.

This is my TV which everything will be connected to...

So basically, taking into account the connections available on my TV..I would like the best possible picture/recording performance I can get within my budget.

I was thinking a SKY HD Box connected to my TV via a HDMI/DVI adaptor would be a good start. As for other equipment...DVD Recorder, etc..I'm unsure?

Have they enabled the USB/Firewire on the SKY HD Box yet? If not, then I'm going to need a DVD Recorder instead of a DVD Player..unless there's another way to get the recorded content from the HD Box either on to disc or on to my laptop?

Lastly, I would like to have a VHS Recorder connected aswell

Guys, any advice would be much appreciated.

    Kev

A SKY HD Box is a good start. A DVD standalone recorder can give you decent recordings, so that's OK too.

An alternative to a DVD Standalone recorder is a DVB /S2 PC card with a phoenix smartmouse. Only for advance users with knowledge on those matters. That way you grabb direct the stream from the satellite.
