Hello, I have a Sony Nicam 127cm Rear Projection tv and it needs some help. My kids have put a crack in the front layer of the two layers of screen and i would like to replace this screen. I have contacted sony direct and they have said the parts for this model are unavailible any more and i would like to know if someone knows what i can replace this screen with or does someone know of a parts department that will have a replacement for this tv.
The model number for the tv is kprs52sn1. I have run out of places to look and hopefully someone can help. Thank you

The outer "layer" of screen, is just a protective covering. You can remove it from the TV and not affect the TV's performance. Of course it won't be there to save your TV the next time the kids are acting up.

Your local TV repair shop would likely be your best bet. See if they can contact their part suppliers and maybe find one in the system.

  4. At a stretch, try eBay and look for an identical model that is defunct but useful for salvage. I've done this for camcorder LCD displays and saved a lot of money. Of course, they are much smaller(!)

My appologies. All of the rear projection TV's that I have seen, have a removable protective "screen", which is cheaper and much easier to replace in case of accidents. Guess Sony didn't get the memo.
