When I convert DVD rips to dvd format, I save them to my hard drive first and burn them later. When converting the file to my hard drive I get about 10 mins into the process and my computer completely shuts down...What could be the problem??I tried to uninstall Nero 7 and install it again and still the same problem, my computer shuts down when in the coversion process from dvd rip to DVD format

Try using something else - ConvertXtoDVD, FAVC or DVD Flick are all better than Nero.

If it still shuts down after about the same time then you may have a cooling problem. To test if you do, take the side of the case off the PC, aim a small desk fan into the case, and try encoding again. If it doesn't shut down this time then you know you need to get a new cooling fan for your PC.

If it is a laptop that is overheating then you would have to have it serviced and have the fans replaced.

Start by changing software to see if that helps.
