Hello. I just copied video from a camcorder (Mini DV tape) onto DVD. I used a DV cable from the camcorder into my DVD recorder.
I "finalized" the DVD and put the disc in my PC. I see a number of files. One large file (VTS_01-1.vob).
The question is:
"How do I get this file into my PC so I can edit it or convert it to mpeg, etc."
Sorry if this is a no-brainer but I am new to this.
P.S. I have Windows Movie Maker and Proshow Gold 3.0
Thanks very much.

This is not really dv related, it's more editing. Moving you.
I can't recommend windows movie maker for any dvd editing but you might be able to use it if you first use vob2mpg and you will get one mpg from the dvd .
I rather recommend that you use a mpeg2/dvd editor like if tmpgenc dvd author or if you want advanced editing functions mpeg video wizard. Read https://forum.videohelp.com/topic257114.html .
