Hi Just purchase a Tevion 8001 from Aldi

I am after a firmware update for it does anyone know where i could get it from?

I have the firmware update for Tevion 8000 does anyone know if this will work for the 8001?

I not sure but i think the only difference between the tevion 8000 and 8001 is that the tevion 8001 is black and the 8000 is silver.

Let's back up a step. Is there a specific problem that you are having? And do you know that a new firmware corrects the issue? There is no reason to update the firmware just to have the latest version, and it often voids your warranty.

It could be related to the size of your USB drive. Standalones don't always support larger drives.

Either way, try contacting the manufacturer to find out the types/sizes supported. They should also be able to tell you if an update is even available to "correct" the problem.

    Hi

I bought the same player from Aldi.

My Problem: Can`t get it to recognise my 2GB memory
    stick. (Datawrite...fairly Generic I guess.)
You mentioned your friends HDrive is recognised.
    Q:what exactly is he using?
Q:Is there any way of determining the firmware
    version on these machines?
I believe the chip used is a Zoran vaddis 888
    www.zoran.com/IMG/pdf/Vaddis8.pdf .

    Any help greatly received.

    I bought one of these last Thursday too, seemed too good a deal to pass up, but I really struggled to get my harddisk working eith it, then I found this thread on MSE;

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=543306

Now I've got my harddisk working (120GB) by pressing the 'Video' button, doesn't say anything about it in the manual, but it works! My usb stick works no problem, but it's only 512MB so I've just bought a 4GB Sandisk Cruzer from Amazon so I can try some films, it was only £18.99 delivered - bargain!

I believe Tevion is part of Medion, so try the Medion email support.

Finally got my Sandisk Cruzer Micro 4GB stick from Amazon today (Super Saver Delivery - over a week!). Comes preformatted FAT32 with directories for 'music' 'pictures', 'downloads' and 'videos', so dropped some Xvid and DivX5 AVIs into the 'videos' directory and popped it ito the player - it played them all perfectly (took a while to load though). Not bad for £18.99 delivered.

The Cruzer has a funky design which might not be to everyone's taste. The plug retracts and extends by a white plastic clip, which doubles as the LED. It's big and flashes orange, so could be a bit distracting. Also I've noticed that the USB port on the player has very little headroom, and a couple of my older sticks don't physically fit. The body of the Cruzer is just about thin enough to slide under the lip but I think I can still detect a slight downward pressure, which I suspect will knacker the port in short order. It would be best to use a male to female USB cable instead. That's what I'm going to do anyway.
