    Ok, you obviously just like to argue. You win. Have a happy.
    This not meant as an arguement just a statement and a question. first? do you own a lcd tv or plama? ihave a 42" lcd and its damn warm around the tv more so then my 36" crt by far. and its only 280watts if i remember.. but if you move to the 50" plasma the watts jump to somewhere near 600. that would be hot hot in compairison dont ya think? and all the heat comes out the top and sides of the tv even for rear projection. since heat rises they put the vents on the top there wouldnt be so many topics around the heat of lcd/plasma if owners didnt notice a difference dont ya think

    Power results for a Westinghouse 47" LCD flat panel.
    Total power consumption is always constant with an LCD display except for backlight setting.
    These are my results with the Westy and a watt meter adjusting the backlight setting:

    .... Watts
    0 = 100 watchable in a darker room
    10 = 112
    20 = 120
    30 = 130
    40 = 150 the setting I use for a normal lit room
    50 = 165
    60 = 175
    70 = 190
    80 = 215
    90 = 235
    100 = 250 torch mode for the legally blind

    There are a few newer LCD displays that adjust the backlight with the video content. The average backlight can still be adjusted.

    Cuz people keep telling me SD (like from sat) won't look too hot on a large HDTV.
    What size of screen are we talking about ... my Sony HDTV in the living room is 51 inch and the Sci-Fi channel looks good.

    In the last 2 weeks ... I've been tweaking the settings on the ZOOM Feature on both of my HDTVs ... I have a 42" Panasonic Plasma in the bedroom ... I've got the Sci-Fi picture letterbox show ... filling the whole screen on my 42"

    I draw the line at watching old VHS EP stuff on a big screen. It looks better on an interlace CRT TV.

    Sat SD channels are 480x480 to 540x480. That's not much to feed a 1920x1080 display.
