    Hi,

I have a load of mpg files I have edited, each is a few seconds long, and wish to play them by opening the entire lot, sitting back and viewing on PC what I have there, without having to go file open and view each one separately which wil take ages. I dont wish to author them to disc as I am forever adding to them so that disc is immediately out of date and wasted. I could open them in an authoring prog, I use TMPGenc DVD author2 but that means having one track and going add file to each file, again it will take hours !

    Any ideas ?

I will want to eventually string them end to end. adjust their order, then create a new video and also burn to disc. Would Womble be best at this, I use Premiere but thats avi and not designed for mpg.

An AVISynth script is one way I can think of.
    If in doubt, Google it.

And you won't even try ? Geez, how lazy are you ???

Here's a script that should play 2 movies, then you just keep copying and pasting the 2nd line onto a new line each time and change the filename.

    Code:
    DirectshowSource("c:\movies\movie001,mpg")
    +DirectshowSource("c:\movies\movie002.mpg")
    If in doubt, Google it.

ASX metafile. (There are simple drag-and-drop playlist creation apps that'll do this just like M3Us)

For just computer playback of a folder of video files, I use The KMPlayer. You can set it to play all the files in a folder seamlessly, even differing formats. Other players may have similar settings. You will probably have to name them consecutively to set their order of play.

With 500 or so mpg files, each a few secs long usually, I stil think a drag and drop to playlist prog is best, Copying pasting the last codeline to below and altering the number is to take ages, and the file names are not 001 002 etc, but descriptive of file content.
Win2K is driving me nuts, wont play them in Win media player or Quicktime, despite me installing codecs, unless I installed the wrong ones, started with Msoft for WMP for firewalled corporate PCs. My win2K not being internet accessible. Videoredo and TMPGencDVDauthor play them ok ! Any codecs that should unblock this impass greatly appreciated, just googling on decoders is a nightmare.

  8. I'm with redwudz, try KMPlayer or VLC. Both support drag-and-drop playlists and have built in codec for playing just about any audio or video file.
