  1. Hello,

    I'm using Canopus Procoder 2.04.02 for encoding video, BeLight 0.22RC1 for encoding audio to AC3 at 192Kbps, and DVD-lab PRO 2.30 for authoring the DVD (All softwares and files except procoder are latest versions). The video that I'm encoding is DV video (captured using firewire) of combined duration - 4hr26min32sec (combined using procoder during encoding). The encoding settings of canopus procoder are as in the pics: http://i2.tinypic.com/4y5l6d1.jpg http://i11.tinypic.com/6czuu7o.jpg.If i check 'Use strict GOP bitrate control' in the settings, the encoding stops halfway(maybe during the start of secon pass) and a message tell me that it failed to control GOP rate and to uncheck 'Use strict GOP bitrate control'. (I dont remember the exact msg, but its pretty close ). This has happened all the times so i cant use that option .

    Now comes the main part, when i finish menu creating and all, and start the compiling process, the compiling stops automaticlly. Here is the log:

    Code:

    The one thing that stands out to me is the Stream Format. You have yours set to Generic ISO Mpeg Stream. I always have mine set to DVD(Mpeg Program/Elementary Stream) and never have a problem with the output working in DLP. I rarely, if ever, need to go into the Advanced settings for DVD encoding.

  3. Well......................,

    The main reason why i didnt select the 'DVD(MPEG Program/Elementary Stream)' is because, it doesnt allow the bitrates which i want (It allows upto 2500kbps as opposed to the required 2000kbps). I'm dividing 9 DV cassettes into 2 DVDs. So i really want my bitrate to be 2000kbps.

    Besides, i copied the exact same settings to my project(except the bitrate ofcourse).

    P.S. whats DLP?

    DLP = DVD Lab Pro

    2000 kbps is very low for Full-D1 video. The quality will be very poor unless the image is almost static.

    I can't give you any other solution, except perhaps to use HCEnc as the encoder. It is very good at low bitrates.

    Lord Smurf is a long time ProCoder user - perhaps he has seen this happen before.

    as gunslinger told you, you can't use Generic ISO Mpeg Stream setting to make a dvd compliant mpeg. it is for making mpeg transport streams only.

    i should have added the only encoder i would even try to squish that video that much is cce. i'd give it a 7 or 9 pass vbr encode as that's probably the only why to keep it watchable with a bitrate that low.

  8. I decided to encode the video at a higher bitrate and make 3 DVDs insted. So, i chose the 'DVD(MPEG Program/Elementary Stream)' and started the encoding. I will check if it works this time.
