  1. I've made this SVCD that looks and plays perfect, but I've got a question. If I want to skip around in the movie I have to fast forward or rewind, it's like using a tape. I would like to split it up into chapters so that I can skip around to different scenes on the CD. Could somebody point me to a tutorial or describe the process involved in splitting up a SVCD into chapters?

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

  3. So different chapters are simply different files? I just have to split the MPEG up? Will it cause any pauses between chapters? You can't create chapter indexes into a single MPEG file or anything like that?

  4. NO!!!! Do not spilt the MPEG up. You can't create 'true chaptes like a DVD' on a x(S)VCD. But you can create entry points that work just like chapters. If you spilt the MPEG up you'll make multiple tracks, but there will be a pause between each track when the MPEG plays. However, using entry points there will be no pause, and you'll still be able to use the << >>, remote keypad, etc. to navigate your disc (arrow keys won't work).

    1) If you've already burned the disc you need to get the MPEG back on your HD. If it's a VCD use VCDGear to convert the dat file -> MPEG. If SVCD just copy MPG back to HD.

    2) Use VCDImager to create entry points. VCDImager is a command line program that uses the XML file structure. Many people find it easier to use a GUI for it. VCDEasy and TSCV are the most popular (you can find guides to both to the left under Author).

Both VCDEasy and TSCV come bundled w/ CDRDAO a freeware cd burning program that can burn the bin/cue files generated by VCDImager.

  6. Forgot about Iauthor, it's like next to impossible to find and only sold in china (I'm not connected to the priate sites like I use to be). VCDImager is free and easy to find, but there are a lot of different ways to do this. I just suggested one. Luck...
