    Check this out:

I know this might be old news but some like me may have just stumbled on it. I just got a nvidia 8400 pcie card on ebay. On the back it mentioned vista flip. This is sweet. its like a rolodex for your taskbar. I thought all aero was had to do with the frosted title bars and the mini preview windows. This is cool.

How you do it is hold down the little windows button and keep pressing tab to go into three-d flip mode. Now I don't know how strong of a videocard you need to do this feature. I also don't know if you need vista premium or if its available on basic. Is aero avaiable on basic?

Anyway thats another cool trick on VISTA.

  2. Aero is not available for Vista Basic, because usually the machines do not have the necessary hardware to perform this, so it was left out of basic. I found Aero to be annoying though, so I defanged it and went to classic mode so the workstation would perform better.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

It is, but I like the hotkey combo better so it gets used SOMETIMES unlike Expose which I disable.

WOW! AMAZING! I'd much prefer to look at some pretty gimmicky eye candy that decreases functionality than have my mind buzzing with creativity. Yep definately worth causing lots of PCers unecessary frustration at incompatibility issues, snail speeds, endless crashes (instability *is* the Vista experience)...as long as U R one of the lucky ones who have escaped such frustrations naturally.

Aero was billed as a main feature that knocked XP into the stone age - i think M$ must have got there gaming and OS departments mixed up with Vista the heinious hybrid result, too boring to be a game, to annoying to be a efficient functional OS - botched job anyone??Even someone who bigs up Vista around the forum thinks a hyped major plus point is actually a negative - slow and annoying!! ....says it all really

Hey it works for me. Aero is just a neat little side thing. I have a gig of ram and now a 256mb ram dx 10 video card. I don't have any performance issues with aero enabled.

Also - video works in realtime with vista flip That is a nice feature too.

Weather it works or not it's really a waste of processor resources.

    My feelings too.

I thought my computer was going to handle Aero smoothly but it felt like a GEO towing a trailer.... it was awfully slow... (putting aside all the incompatibility issues).

I crawled my way back to XP swearing never to go back to vista....
