Hi folks,
My current DVD player is broken, and I'd like to replace it with a DVD recorder--but a fairly low cost one if possible. I have a Hitachi projection HDTV (about 6 years old) and Comcast cable with a HD DVR box. I'd like to be able to record some of the programs that I have saved on that box if possible. Occasionally, I borrow videos from foreign friends, and I'd like to be able to watch them. With my current Sony, I was not able to do that because of the international code problems. My local Costco has a Toshiba DVD Recorder model D-KR10 for about $130. It has 1080p upconversino, but I'm concerned because the specs (at http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvr/product.asp?model=d-kr10) say "Some DVD-R/DVD-RW and CD-R/CD-RW discs may be incompatible due to laser pick up and disc design. CD-R/CD-RW discs must be recorded using CD-DA method for CD audio playback."
Any thoughts or recommendations? Does anyone know anything about this Toshiba model?
Thanks for the help, MilliePen
