Attempting to Firewire capture a DVR-recorded show (DCT-3412). I went into the diagnostic mode to determine that the channel of interest was not currently broadcasting 5C protected content.
However, a show recorded on that channel cannot be captured (CAPDVHS shows no Data Info for that program). So, can a single channel broadcast both 5C protected and non-5C protected content? Is there a good way to determine if a particular recording has 5C protection enabled?

I know only this - if you are trying to capture premium paid content like HBO or something similar, CapDVHS can't record it. If this is what your DVR recorded, your DVR may be preserving some sort of "don't copy" DRM in the signal that is messing you up. I only capture non-premium channels with CapDVHS, such as local TV broadcasts, so I don't have this problem. I also don't know how to determine whether content has 5C protection or not.
